Silverdevillabs, LLC CD/DVD Disclaimer

For any and all patrons:

Silverdevillabs, LLC has been in the CD/DVD market for many years and we use a reputable DVD disc and CD disc manufacturer that makes a quality product. The CD/DVD life expectancy of these discs is very high and can be kept this way by keeping the product in favorable conditions. Scratches, cracks, fingerprints and a number of other variables can affect the playability and compatibility of your disc. The basic types of CD and DVD discs (ROM, R, RW and RAM) each use different types of data layer material. Deterioration of this material, which can be affected by environmental factors, is considered the primary cause for disc degradation and will eventually render the disc unusable, assuming proper physical handling. Unfortunately, due to this and the many factors associated with an ever changing optical media industry we shall not be responsible for the disc(s) or any material on the disc once the disc has left our possession and control.

Some pointers for increasing the life-span of your CD/DVD:

  • Avoid leaving fingerprints on the bottom of your discs by only handling them by the outer edge or through the center hole
  • Avoid flexing the discs when removing them from a player, recorder or storage case
  • Do not put excessive pressure on the center hub when inserting the disc in the case. The center hub area, particularly on DVDs, is fragile. A crack in the hub can lead to shattering of the disc in a high-speed drive.
  • Avoid scratching the bottom surface of the disc by picking the disc straight up from a flat surface; do not slide discs.
  • The ideal storage environment should be cool, dry and dark. The temperature should be greater than 4°C (39°F) but less than 20°C (68°F) at 20-50% humidity. For archival discs, store at 18°C (65°F) at 35% humidity.

We have also done extensive research regarding the compatibility of our DVDs and have found that our DVDs will play on most of today's popular DVD players and computer DVD-ROMs; however, we regret to inform that there are still a few players that are not compatible with our DVDs.

Notwithstanding the above disclaimer of liability regarding discs leaving our possession and control, we seek to keep our customers satisfied. So if a problem develops, feel free to contact a store manager to discuss how we can assist in solving the problem.

If you have further questions or concerns you may contact our corporate office via mail or email.
